More Halloween fun for me and you!

We can’t forget to carve and/or paint our pumpkins!  Here are some great ideas from around the net. On TLC How Things Work, you will find a great tutorial on the basics of pumpkin carving along with some carving ideas.  The definitive site for pumpkin carving is Pumpkin Masters.  They offer some of their incredible patterns for free downloading and also give carving tips.

Now, for the finished product!

The Pumpkin Lady boasts 500 carving patterns, some are free, some are not.  More patterns and how-to’s can be found at Stoneykins.  At Stoneykins  you will find many celebrity faces to carve!

Martha Stewart is my favorite go-to for everything Halloween.  She even has carve-by-number patterns.  Who knew?  LOL!  Of course carve-by numbers is based upon paint-by-numbers, what a great segue to painting patterns!

Capture The Beauty Of Simplicity

e-How says that for painting a pumpkin, you should look for a pumpkin that is uniform in size without any major imperfections. This makes painting easier. Wash and dry the pumpkin completely before painting. Download free pumpkin stencil designs from the Internet to use as a pattern. Consider sealing the painted pumpkin to prevent scratches and chips in the paint.  To create a Ghostly Faces:

  •  Paint the entire pumpkin white. Once the paint has dried, use black paint to create ghost faces over the white paint. Depending on the look you want to achieve, you can create friendly or spooky ghost faces.

I'm Dressed to the 9s and Ready to Haunt!

There are two really cool blogs that I just came across, Think Crafts where I copied the directions for a Henna Pumpkin that is beautiful, abstract and unusual, and for crafters Think Crafts is just a wonderful site to run to!  The other site is Tip Junkie which had a link to Think CraftsTip Junkie is a great site for all kinds of tips.  Check these sites out!  Here is the download link for the directions for the Henna Pumpkinhttp://www.4shared.com/file/G8fULKK8/Henna_Pumpkins.html

I think these sites will keep you busy!  If you are running out of time, you can always go to craft stores and find the ready-mades.  I found a beautiful silver carved-out fake pumpkin last year that I will be putting out again this year.
